Fabrics for Coronavirus Masks Covid-19
A large collection of volunteers for hospitals and surgical instrument makers have purchased a large selection of our fabrics for their needs. Read the article from the town of Burlington VT that made 21000 masks from 1400 yards of our fabric.
There is a wide selection of fabrics to choose from.
- The Classic line is 100% cotton 220 GSM ( Grams per square meter ) or 6.4 Oz/ sq yd. They come in different colors. Here is a link to the classic line
- You can use lining fabrics that are 4.6 oz.
- The best choice, in our opinion, is a napped lining - the best choice (plain on one side and napped/fleeced on ther other side
- White Napped Lining or Ivory Napped Lining . Use this with a lighter weight cotton as the inner lining.

- You can use fabrics made for quilting. We have a large selection of fabrics that are available and they come in many styles and colors. Since they are so many designs, it is really difficult to list them all in here given that the pieces are in short yardage, from 1 to 5 yard (each 44" wide). Please specify what you are looking for and we can help you choose from a selection. Given that there are so many to choose from please rely on our selection for you from what you may have told us.
Elastics for Masks
Our most popular elastic for masks. Best for sewn in elastic. Use with sewn in designs or with pockets. 1/4" in Hospital White color only. Call 800-392-4007 or your local store
Black cord elastic for loops around the ears - 3/32" - popular for cords.
Grey cord elastic for loops around the ear 1/16"

A note about how much these masks might protect you
Remember these are fabrics masks and only protect big droplets and not the virus in the air. According to the Guardian...Wearing a face mask is certainly not an iron-clad guarantee that you won’t get sick – viruses can also transmit through the eyes and tiny viral particles, known as aerosols, can penetrate masks. However, masks are effective at capturing droplets, which is a main transmission route of coronavirus, and some studies have estimated a roughly fivefold protection versus no barrier alone (although others have found lower levels of effectiveness).
Mask Articles for Coronavirus
Here is a short selection of articles and masks and directions for making masks.
You will need fabric, thread and elastic. It appears that elastic supplies are running low and so you could use fabric to make bands/tapes that you could tie with a bow at the back of your ears or head. We make NO CLAIMS that these masks will protect you from covid19. Use at your own risk.
